Front-end module voted top product

EDN China, one of the country’s leading electronics publications, selected the EPCOS D5058 front-end module for one of its Innovation Awards 2013. The highly integrated RF module for smartphones was chosen by the readers as the year’s Leading Product in the “Passive Components and Sensors category.”

The D5058 front-end module supports a very wide range of frequency bands for 2G, 3G and 4G mobile communications. Apart from three conventional SAW filters and five duplexers, the module contains the band selection switches and decoders as well as an ESD protection circuit for up to 4 kV at the antenna output, all densely integrated into a package with dimensions of only 8.0 mm x 4.95 mm x 1.0 mm. Such miniaturized EPCOS front-end solutions allow developers to design smartphones with the usual compact dimensions despite the integration of additional functions.
