Siemens A&D

Growing partnership

EPCOS is intensifying its successful relationship with Siemens A&D MC (Automation & Drives Motion Control Systems Division), especially in the field of aluminum electrolytic capacitors with screw terminals in which EPCOS is world market leader. As the world’s leading manufacturer of automation and drives technology, Siemens A&D is one of EPCOS’ key customers.

At the same time, EPCOS is one of the largest suppliers of components to Siemens A&D MC, whose need for aluminum electrolytic capacitors has grown steeply during the course of our long-term relationship. EPCOS has now shipped a total of over 5 million units to this customer. “This is a very high number for such capacitors, which are used largely in frequency converters for industrial drives,” says Dr. Edmund Fischer, Head of the Capacitors Division. “One reason for this success is our extensive performance package for these capacitors: we offer high-quality rugged customized products together with a comprehensive service of application support and logistics – and all that at competitive prices!“

Siemens A&D also appreciates the geographical proximity of our production plant in Szombathely, Hungary, and the design-in and application center in Heidenheim, Germany, to their production facilities in Erlangen, Germany. There is scarcely a competitor able to offer this advantage.

Capacitors also manufactured in China

The objective of the intensified partnership is to respond even better to the growing demands of the market. “It aims to include other A&D divisions, A&D sites abroad as well as a broader range of EPCOS products,“ explains Ralph Bronold, Global Account Manager for Siemens at EPCOS. “In pursuing this goal, EPCOS can benefit from its global manufacturing base. For example, we expect our screw-terminal capacitors to play an important part in Siemens’ strongly growing frequency converter business in China, because we also manufacture them locally in our joint venture in Xiamen.“
