TDK MMZ1005-E gigaspira beads won a “Cho Monodzukuri 2010” Innovative Parts and Components Award in the electric and electronic components category, a coveted award that goes to outstanding products of the Japanese manufacturing industry. The winners are selected by Japan’s leading daily business and industry newspaper publisher, Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

The MMZ1005-E gigaspira beads, which measure a minute 1.0 × 0.5 × 0.5 mm³, are able to suppress harmonic noise over a very wide frequency range up to 3 GHz while maintaining a high impedance. They are thus suited for EMC filtering in high frequency applications such as GPS, FM radio and digital terrestrial TV reception. The key innovation of the MMZ1005-E is the micro-coil winding that is perpendicular to the terminal electrodes, enabling it to effectively also suppress stray capacitance from the terminals.
